Nordic Simulator

As part of our growing worldwide simulator database we are able to offer venues a Green Pin membership, which provides our readers with additional information about the simulators and business. Today we welcome Nordic Simulator to this membership, our first from Sweden.

The Simulators

Nordic operates a Boeing 737NG-800, made by FSC. A fully functional simulator, including standard motorised throttles, pitch trim and auto spoiler (speed brake) deployment. A three projector 220 degree wrap-around visual system is installed, and along with the eight channel Dante sound system with two subs under the floor, a good level of immersion is provided.

In addition to fully functional pilot to pilot coms, there is a VATSIM connection providing an even greater level of realism for the customer.

In regards to software, the visuals and flight models are powered by Prepare 3D and Prosim respectively. While view control comes from Immersive’s SimControl. On the instructor side, the station is powered through FS-FlightControl.

And for those wanting a recording of their session there are three cameras setup in the simulator to capture video, along with the audio feeds, for streaming to Youtube and/or to be put onto memory stick.

The Venue

As we have mentioned in other articles and on our podcast, we do like airport based simulator venues as they provide the customer with an extra level of realism.

Located at Göteborg City Airport (IATA: GSE, ICAO: ESGP) and next to Aeroseum, a true flight enthusiast would be hard pressed to find a better location for a simulator venue. If you were visiting Nordic straight from the airport it’s only about a 5 mile, 10 minute, drive around to their venue on the east side of the airport.

The Staff and Business

Nordic tells us their main customer base is for those wanting to experience what it is like to be an airline pilot, but they also cater for true flight simulator enthusiasts and airline pilots alike.

Summary
